Comments: Five childhood friends meet in Berlin to celebrate their parting of ways. It's the early 1940s in Nazi-controlled Germany. Encouraged by a rosy forecast of a short war, the youths set out to the various fronts with the determination of returning only a year later to reunite.

This German mini-series tries to emulate Band of Brothers, only for the Germans. I use "Germans" instead of Nazis because this program does a great job of revealing the popular, German, side of "the war". They did try to cope with the Nazi oppression, even though they may have felt it wrong. (Maybe if they hadn't relinquished their firearms, it would have been different?) This mini-series is based on the lives of actual individuals. Recommended.
