Comments: The Soviet army invaded Finland in 1939. The Finns got a little support from the U.S. and other Nordic countries; however, Finland was mostly on its own. This film follows a platoon comprised mostly of farmers who saw a lot of action. It is a war film so there's a lot of violence and destruction. It's not over done. The production is big. Watching this film makes the audience feel part of the war. It's very impressive that an untrained, poorly-equipped army could stand against the planes, tanks, and vast numbers of Soviet soldiers. Recommended.
