Comments: One of the last real cowboys, the main character lives on the open range. He dislikes the fences springing up everywhere and refuses to take a permanent residence. When a friend, with a family, is put in jail for similar ideas, he intentionally gets arrested with the idea of escaping with his friend. But he can't persuade the friend and escapes alone.

This movie does a good job of showing the technological "progress" made in the West. The chase is impressive. This film is based on an Edward Abbey story.
