Comments: A young man in an idealistic community is nearing graduation, where everyone is selected for the job best suited him or her. Only he wonders what could be his talent. In confirmation of his question, he is selected to be the Receiver, which is an ambiguous, secretive position. As expected he reluctantly accepts. Then, he begins to experience life in a new manner.

I had previously read this young-adult novel. While the screenwriters embellished certain characters and the plot, they didn't lose sight of the idea. The movie quickly explains what's going on so even the most casual viewer can keep up. Of course, the novel speaks volumes more than a feature film ever could; however, this is an excellent film that nurtures the spirit of the novel. Highly recommended.
