Title (Year): Need for Speed (2014) Age: 10 yearsGRS Rating: 5 of 5
Infractions: None. Comments: Not soon after his father died, a high-school rival, now a powerful businessman, returns to pretend that nothing happened. Unfortunately, the main character has to take a job from this rival. Little does he know that it will develop into a race across the country, and then a race up the West Coast. The penniless challenger calls upon the help of a former customer, and is given a car and a young woman, as insurance of its survival. This movie is based on a computer game that I played many times. I expected little but action and physical impossibilities. I wasn't disappointed. However, there was a bit more depth than I expected. Most of it was unsubstantial and derived from Vanishing Point. Particularly, I didn't like how Keaton played a part based on Super Soul. Imogen Poots looks like a young Helen Mirren in this film. Otherwise, this is a pretty good car chase film. There are some lovely shots of the Green River and Canyonlands. A chase scene is set along Potash Road and the Long Canyon turn. |
