Comments: The Second World War is coming to a close. The Allies have landed at Normandy and are fighting into Italy. A group of older art historians is dispatched to recover stolen works of art from the Nazis. There is a distinctive threat that the Nazis will destroy these works rather than leave them behind during their retreat.

This is an excellent film. It tells the true story of this small group of Americans, French, and Germans who dedicate their time, and sometimes, their lives to saving art for future generations. Recommended.
