Comments: Two Arkansas boys find a boat stuck high in a tree on a river island. They also find a drifter is living in it. The man, named Mud, is trying to meet his girlfriend. The boys help him in his quest but things start to go very bad.

This is an interesting film describing life as seen through a fourteen-year-old's point of view. His crises and troubles are compounded by Mud. Set along the Arkansas River, this is a strangely picturesque film. Recommended.
