Title (Year): The Country Girl (1954) Age: 70 yearsGRS Rating: 5 of 5
Infractions: None. Comments: A Broadway singer turns to alcohol when his boy is accidentally killed by a car. His wife takes care of him and becomes overbearing. The director of a new play learns these things when he offers the singer a lead part. But can the singer pull himself together to lead the play against the critics? This drama is based on a play. It takes a bit to get going but works out to be a good film. The performances are sterling. Grace Kelly shines playing a glamour-less, strong-willed woman. Recommended. |
