Comments: An avalanche strands a motley group of passengers in rural Italy. The next day, after an uncomfortable night in the packed hotel, a young woman is struck by a falling planter. An old lady helps her onto the departing train. The young lady passes out and discovers that the old lady has gone missing. Her requests for help are met with skeptism and suggestions of insanity. Only one man, a musician, attempts to discover if she is mad or a conspiracy is afoot.

This early Hitchcock, produced in Britain, starts slowly. It gathers steam as quickly as the train, in which the bulk of the story takes place. After that, it held my attention. Hitchcock did a great job with, obviously, a small effects budget. Also, it is funny at parts. Recommended.
