Comments: A New York writer sends to an antique bookshop in London asking for reasonably priced copies of a few titles. A successful transaction sparks a correspondence between the female writer and the male bookseller spanning about twenty years. This movie fleshes out the corrsepondence. It may sound a bit boring, but this movie plays well. The acting is very good and seeing how these individuals and the minor characters respond to different events is intriguing. The movie also shows the food rationing of post-war Britain.
