Comments: A bad rancher hires a posse, of sorts, and controls the local town of Appaloosa with force. The sheriff tries to bring him in for the murder of a man and his wife, however, he is killed. The town calls in two wandering guns-for-hire and give them carte blanche.

I wanted to really like this film. The trouble is not the story but the direction. Everytime the movie starts to congeal, Ed Harris (as director) reins it in. Fortunately, it's not a complete flop. Interestingly, the transition for the last half is a maddening truth.
