Comments: A female reporter, aching to investigate the living conditions in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) during the Nazi siege, gets her wish when the reporter bus is destroyed by a Nazi bomb. She's presumed killed and reported as such by the Soviet government. She's befriended by a loyal Soviet police woman, who saves her life. The reporter stays with a slowly starving mother and two children and attempts to save all three of their lives. However, it looks like the Nazis will starve everyone in the city.

This is an amazing film based on a true story. It shows the terrible conditions that killed one-and-a-half million people in one city over the course of 872 days--the "longest and most destructive sieges in history".
