Comments: This miniseries is based on John Wyndham's novel. An oil company develops a species of plant that produces an excellent petroleum substitute. The plant is mobile and attacks people. Farming Triffids isn't a problem until the bulk of the population is blinded by the passing of a spectacular comet one night. Then, the Triffids have the upper hand.

This is an excellent six-part program. It takes a bit to get into, like many British productions, but once it's going you're hooked. The series has few special effects and no exotic locations. It relies on acting, plot, and clever simple visual effects to make a chilling world.
