Comments: A U.S. nuclear submarine sinks while chasing a very fast-moving, submerged contact. A deep-sea oil rig crew and station are drafted by the Navy to recover the launch codes for the nuclear missiles. During the operation, two crew members see a lighted entity in the water. Thinking that the entity is a Soviet submersible, the SEAL team is instructed to recover a nuclear weapon. Meanwhile a hurricane requires disconnecting from the supply ship, which is hampered by the SEAL operation. The rig is crippled and the occupants are trapped under a lot of water and a hurricane. Can they survive? Will they get along with the SEALs?

This underwater thriller does a great job showing the American fear of the Soviets during the Cold War. The film has many elements that are missing in later films. The underwater sequences are amazing. Recommended!
