Comments: This movie follows Michael Shaara's novel The Killer Angels about the battle of Gettysburg. The focus is on a company of troops, the 20th Maine.

I studied this battle in both the South and the North. Both accounts were different. Fancy that? Why not let a historical novelist write a novel about this terrible battle? Shaara's novel is quite fairly balanced.

I've also read the account written by General Longstreet, my favorite general of the War Between the States. One should not forget the views of the "conquered" when it comes to remembering history. Also, do not forget the destruction this war created. Maybe, there could have been another outcome?
