Comments: I was surprised that this film was made in the late '40s. The cinematography and style seemed more akin to the movies of the late '50s. I liked the movie a lot.

A wandering retired soldier visits Key Largo to tell the story of one of his men who died in battle to the man's widow. He happens upon a mobster who's waiting out the hurricane to escape to Cuba. The conflict is not just between the mobster and the good people but also an internal conflict for the retired soldier.
