Comments: First of all, Gretchen Mol does an excellent job portraying this '50s pin-up model. Gretchen is a superb actress who tends to take on movies like this. And she never fails to shine.

This movie is a biography of Bettie Page's rise as the most infamous bondage queen of the 1950s, hence the title. Now bondage isn't my thing, and regardless '50s "trussing up" is quite a bit different than modern sadomasochism!

This movie isn't a porno but rather it's the story of how, and why, friendly country-girl Bettie Page was molded into Playboy's "bondage queen" centerfold of 1955. Did you know that she was nearly the valedictorian of her high school class? She missed the honor by receiving one B and was named salutatorian.

Instead of going to college to be a teacher she followed her dream and started taking acting classes in New York. She began posing to survive while trying to make it as an actress. A familiar story in present-day Los Angeles.

This movie is very well done and tastefully executed. Gretchen Mol brings a lot of life to the classic pictures. The filming itself helps tell the story. Highly recommended if you're not offended by nudity.
