Comments: An American, working for the British intelligence, discovers a new very large submarine that has just launched from a Soviet sub pen. He's thrown into a panic by an odd feature of the boat: a set of four doors, two near the bow and two on the after section. Little does he know that he has opened up a can of worms of espionage and Cold War tension.

This is an excellent film. The immense size of the Red October is based on two very, very large subs designed and built by the Soviets. They were so large that they created a bulge on the surface of the water! Oops.
